The challenge from Stamp Ink Paper is Card Maker’s Choice. This means to make a card using your favorite stamp set, ink colors and paper. I knew exactly which stamp set I wanted to use when I saw this challenge, Graveyard Gate.
I actually cased the example shown on page 54 in the Holiday Catalog. I added a little but it basically the same card with more layers.
The card starts with a Black base and the Perfect Plum layer is added on top. I used Glossy paper for the front panel. I started by sponging a little Daffodil Delight in the top right hand corner. Then I added a 1-3/8″ circle (post it note) and sponge a little heavier around the moon. Then I sponged a little Pumpkin Pie, Perfect Plum and Smoky Slate at the bottom. In my first attempt (and there were several… lol) I tried to stamp directly on the glossy paper and it didn’t work for me. You have to be very careful so that your stamp doesn’t move on the slippery surface. I’m stubborn so I tried a few more times with no success. Finally I stamped the head stones with Smoky Slate on Smoky Slate paper and hand cut them out and added them with snail. I actually like the look and I think it adds more dimension. The bat was cut out using one of the Seasonal Tags framelits. I stamped the sentiment with Memento on a Smoky Slate scrap and sponged the edges with Smoky Slate. I attached the gate with thin strips of Stampin Dimensionals. I added some Wink of Stella to the bat to finish the card.
I had a scrap of the glossy white paper so I sponged it a little on the strip for the inside. The spider webs are also from the Seasonal Tags Framelits. I stamped the candy in Perfect Plum and the sentiment in Memento. I think I know just who will get this card for Halloween 🙂 .
